Webinar Overview

Pension schemes have committed to investing in UK productive assets, and infrastructure is one of the most natural homes for long-term capital. The debate is shifting from whether to invest to, how best to invest?

Following a hard-fought campaign, the Pension Schemes Bill now recognises listed investment companies as a legitimate route for schemes to meet private-asset requirements. That ensures UK pension funds have the option of using listed investment companies as well as open-ended funds and direct private-market mandates. The result is a wider choice of structures for trustees, and important questions about liquidity, governance, valuation, cost and fit with a scheme's objectives.

In this Professional Pensions webinar, sponsored by Gravis, Baroness Ros Altmann explains why it was so important to challenge the Government’s original plans for the Pension Schemes Bill and what the legislative changes will mean for investors. Phil Kent, CEO of Gravis, compares the main routes into infrastructure: listed investment companies, open-ended funds that invest in them, and private-market options. He sets out the trade-offs of each.
