Jonathan is editor of Professional Pensions and has been reporting on UK occupational pensions since 2001. He has won a number of awards during his career, most recently the SPP Trade Journalist of the Year Award in 2019. He is also holder of the PMI's Retirement Provision Certificate.
Jonathan is one of the original founders of the business and has spent many years working with companies across the UK to help their employees make informed financial decisions through the provision of financial education, guidance and regulated financial advice.
In recent years this service has extended to the Trustee market, supporting pension schemes to help their members understand their financial situation, particularly with regards to pensions and how to optimise income in retirement. Jonathan is also a recognised commentator on financial matters, particularly with regards to pensions and retirement. He is often quoted in the national and trade press and frequently speaks at conferences and roundtable events.
Simon has extensive experience of delivering trustee services and managing pensions operations. He started his pensions career in 1998 with HR Trustees and then spent ten years working with independent trustee firms – managing service providers, team members and relationships with key stakeholders including The Pensions Regulator (TPR) and Pension Protection Fund (PPF).
In 2008, Simon moved in-house with Veolia to lead on projects and governance. He later became trustee services manager responsible for service delivery to the trustee board comprising several complex defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) schemes.
Simon joined National Grid in 2015 as pensions technical manager and member of the UK pensions delivery leadership team. He delivered administration and governance support to their DB pension scheme, one of the UK’s largest.
He joined Punter Southall Governance Services as a client director in 2020, acting as a trustee and scheme secretary as well as undertaking bespoke governance and pensions management project work.
He is an active promoter of diversity in business and heads Punter Southall Governance Services’ D&I working group.
