Webinar Overview

Risk transfer continues to be the leading endgame strategy for smaller defined benefit (DB) schemes. With a highly competitive insurer market and increasingly streamlined solutions tailored to smaller schemes, it has never been more accessible — or more relevant.

In this webinar, held in association with Aon, we will take a practical, end-to-end look at the journey of a risk transfer transaction — from preparing your scheme for market and running a successful broking process, through to what really happens once a deal has been agreed.

While many trustees and stakeholders are now familiar with the broad steps involved in reaching a buy-in, far less attention is typically given to what follows. Yet it is this post-transaction phase that often determines how smoothly — and how quickly — a scheme can reach its ultimate destination.

In this session we will consider a scheme’s end-to-end journey with a particular focus on this critical second stage, covering:

  • The key activities and decisions after signing
  • Moving from buy-in to buyout
  • The final steps towards winding up the scheme

We’ll highlight common pitfalls, share practical lessons from recent transactions, and explain how early planning at the outset of the project can significantly reduce risk, cost and timescales.

Whether you are at an early stage of considering risk transfer, or already progressing towards a transaction, this session will provide clear, actionable insights to help you deliver a successful outcome.
